overview
products are constantly being replaced by more up to date models. technology is advancing all the time, and this is creating an excessive increase in waste. electronics can not be thrown into everyday trash either, they need to be disposed off at a local tip. with this in mind, something has to be proposed to decrease the amount of waste, but yet be ready for the more up-to-date products that are constantly appearing on the market.

new products are also becoming more software based and users are depending on this software to run their daily lives. not much interaction is needed from the user and therefore resulting in a more ‘depend on software’ society. consideration of interaction needs to be taken into mind and whether or not the product allows the user to add or subtract other parts in some way.

customisation is a large issue in today’s world and manufacturers are making products with less configuration, reducing in the choice the consumer has. research needs to be put into place to understand why businesses are doing this, and how, if so, the user is getting around the ‘uncustomisable’ product.

is there a way to create a product so that when an updated version comes onto the market, it does not become obsolete?

after research and analysis of past and present products mentioned in the area list, four key products have been brought to attention for further study. these four products provide a drive for the project and help give a specific area for the overall product.

further research and analysis will be taken into the areas of computer, televisions, mp3 players and mobile phones, these will then be condensed into one final product area. consideration needs to be taken into account of the market the product will be for, and how will the product be able to last with the rapidly evolving ‘gadget’ market.

about me
i am a keen individual that has a passion for design. from an early age i have been obsessed with developing and building products, from my first lego set at the age of 4, to a garage extension with a studio at the age of 20. design surrounds my life and i make it my passion to follow the world of creativity.  website design is my strong point having worked for various companies to produce enticing pages; but overall, i enjoy the freedom to express ideas and opinions, and have somebody else enjoy what i have created.

overview
after much research into water wastage within the home, an area of interest has appeared and presented itself. this area being the efficiency of the cleaning of pots and dishes via the dishwasher. further research needs to be taken into the product to understand exactly what it is, what it does, what the benefits of it are, and what problems present themselves within the use of an everyday dishwasher.

analysis of the materials and manufacturing methods will be taken into account. the aim of this project is to identify problems with the dishwasher and water wastage. is there a way to decrease the amount of water used in a single load? and is water actually necessary?

career aspirations
i aim to become a successful identity, beginning as a freelance designer, making my name known and my work recognised. then hopefully one day i will work for a highly reputable company (maybe my own), producing high-quality products that are reliable and healthy to the environment. i wish to make a difference.
